Jean Of mArc A fascinating experiment in using chiptunes in brand new ways by expanding them beyond their original limitations, halfcrash succeeds in creating some very enjoyable and original tunes. Great guy and teacher to boot! Favorite track: The Oceanographer's Notebook.

about

"It Happened In Eight Days" is a lie. It took considerably longer.

All of the sounds on the album (with the exception of my briefly appearing voice) originate from 8-bit or lower resolution sound sources; primarily sound chips from old video game systems or emulations thereof.

NES, Gameboy, and Commodore 64 sounds make up the backbone (and often the entirety) of each song. Yet through composition, effects, and experimentation, I intended to stretch the songs beyond the boundaries of those wonderful machines. The result is an expansive and intriguing sonic soundscape that is still steeped in a classic gaming atmosphere.

But enough pretentious meandering. On with the music!
